All about Martin

box-brownie

I have been taking photographs since I was six, when my Grandad gave me a Kodak box camera in 1955.

To me, this was magic.

By the age of 10 I was developing my own films.

I never had the means to own an expensive camera, so most of my photographs were taken with budget Instamatics and sometimes disposable cameras.

My passion for photography was sparked by the demolition of my infant school in 1956, which ignited a desire to record the past.

Over the years, I focused on capturing snapshots of what I saw around me. I also inherited my mothers passion for photography, as she was an accomplished amateur photographer.

As time ticks on, and after conversations with my children and grandchildren, I want this unique collection of photographs to continue.

So over the next few years we will be adding galleries covering a multitude of themes that include transport, churches, landscapes and memories of places such as public houses that are now closed.

And new for 2025 we are adding a collectibles section featuring old advertisements, playbills and publicity material.

I hope you enjoy what you see here as much as I have had photographing and collecting them!
